CODE OF CONDUCT FOR JUNIOR MEMBERS
Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting
the well-
All junior members of Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club are expected to abide by the following junior code of conduct:
· All members must play and compete within the rules of the sport set by the Club and the National Governing Body and respect officials and their decisions.
· All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
· Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions and inform their coach if they are going to be late.
· Members must wear suitable kit for training and competitions (which will vary depending on weather conditions), as agreed with the coach.
· Members must pay any fees for training, competition entry, transportation or other reasonable fees promptly.
· Junior members are not allowed to smoke whilst at the Club’s premises, during training sessions or whilst representing the Club at competitions.
· Junior members under the age of 17 years are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the Club’s premises, during training sessions or whilst representing the Club at competitions.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ALL MEMBERS
All members must:
· Familiarise yourself with Club rules and obey them
· Not use equipment unless authorised to do so
· Keep the boathouse clean and tidy at all times
· Report any damage to the Captain or Vice Captain immediately
· Bring a change of clothing to all training sessions and competitions
· Not wear shoes/trainers in boats (with the exception of the Aquajog boats)
· Carry boats by the gunnels and not the riggers – two persons to carry sculling boats
· Carry oars one at a time or sculls one pair at a time
· Not leave oars or sculls lying on the ground
· Familiarise themselves with the position of Safety equipment & First Aid kits
· Only boat in safe conditions and wash all boats after outing
· If you capsize, stay with your boat until rescued
· In the case of Junior members, not boat unaccompanied
· Not run in the boathouse
· Not run when carrying equipment or boats
· Wear lifejackets when a cox
· Ensure that each boat carries a whilstle
· Not leave boats unattended on the water
· Return equipment to its correct storage position in the boathouse after use
All crews and scullers, unless instructed otherwise by a coach or the Club Captain,

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES
All coaches must:
· Adhere to the SportsCoach UK “Code of Practice for Sports Coaches” and the ARA Child Protection Policy and Procedures
· Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance
· Maximise benefits and minimise the risks to participants
· Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on openness, honesty, mutual trust and respect
· Demonstrate proper personal behaviour and conduct at all times
· Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
· Promote the positive aspects of the sport (eg. fair play)
· Respect and champion the rights of every individual to participate in sport
· Display consistently high standards of behaviour
· Attain a high level of competence through qualifications and a commitment to ongoing training that ensures safe and correct practice
· Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the Club
· Never exert undue influence over participants to obtain personal benefit or reward
· Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances
· Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results
· Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/CARERS
All parents/carers must:
· Encourage their child to learn the rules of the sport and play/compete within them.
· Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
· Help their child to recognise good performance, not just good results.
· Never force their child to take part in sport.
· Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance of all.
· Never punish or belittle their child for losing or making mistakes.
· Publicly accept officials’ judgments.
· Support their child’s involvement in the sport and help them to enjoy their sport.
· Use correct and proper language at all times.
· Encourage and guide their child to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CLUB OFFICIALS AND VOLUNTEERS
All volunteers must:
· Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance
· Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect
· Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part
· Promote the positive aspects of the sport (eg. fair play)

· Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
· Recognise good performance, not just good results.
· Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performance of all.
· Never chastise or belittle participants for losing or making mistakes.
· Publicly accept officials’ judgments.
· Support all participants’ involvement in the sport.
· Use correct and proper language at all times.
