Congratulations to all members that took part in Chester le Street regatta on Saturday 25 April. Matt Gawne took the forefront, winning a total of three trophies – two of which were with teammate Connor Mark. Winning their Junior 16 Double Sculls event, they then moved up an age category to win Junior 17 Double Sculls. Matt then teamed up with Alex Hill to win Mixed Junior 18 Double Sculls. The Junior 15 crew of Jack Glenholmes, Alex Rose, Alex Widdowson and Martin Wilson, coxed by Beth Bareham moved up to Novice status and won their Coxed Quad event. The girls Junior 16 crew of Claire Nugent, Bethany Tidmarsh, Rosella Brown and Catherine Gammage, coxed by Beth Bareham, followed suit and won their Novice Coxed Four event. Dave Harte brought the total number of wins to eight after he won Mens Elite Singles Sculls and Intermediate 1 Double Sculls with Danny Mark.
Durham City regatta on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May saw the club winning four trophies. Saturday was the successful day of two. Alex Hill managed two of three wins gained that day. Winning Womens Junior 18 Double Sculls with Claire Nugent, she then sculled alone in Womens Junior 18 Single Sculls to win that event. Connor Mark and Matt Gawne won Mens Junior 16 Double Sculls. Sunday saw Dave Harte team up with a Durham School rower and win Elite Pairs.
Congratulations to Connor Mark and Matt Gawne who won both their events at Tees regatta on 16 May – Junior 16 Coxless Pairs and Double Sculls.
Another well done to Connor Mark and Matt Gawne who won their Junior 16 Double Sculls event at Castle Semple on Saturday 30 May.
Hexham regatta on Saturday 6 June saw the club gain five wins. Dave Harte won his Elite Sculls event, and Martin Wilson and Alex Widdowson won their Junior 15 Double Sculls event. Connor Mark teamed with Matt Gawne to win Junior 16 Double Sculls then went on to win a second pot coxing the Mens Veteran Coxed Quad of Mike Rigby, Mike Bareham, Dennis Burke and Charles Lawson. The final win was gained by Claire Nugent and Catherine Gammage in Womens Junior 16 Double Sculls.
Congratulations to Dave Harte, Jack Glenholmes, Alex Rose, Alex Widdowson, Martin Wilson, Claire Nugent, Matt Gawne, Connor Mark and Alex Hill who all won at Durham regatta on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June and got to collect their prizes at the main hall in Durham. Dave teamed up with three composite scullers to win Elite Colxess Quads. Claire coxed Jack, Alex, Alex and Martin, winning Junior 15 Coxed Quads. Matt and Connor won Junior 16 Double Sculls on both days, and Alex won her Womens Junior 18 Single Sculls event.
Berwick regatta on 20 June saw the club win six events, with Connor Mark gaining three of them. Teaming with matt Gawne, he won Junior 16 Double Sculls. Connor then teamed with Alex Hill to win their Mixed Junior 18 Double Sculls event. His third win was while coxing the Womens Junior 16 Coxed Quad of Claire Nugent, Bethany Tidmarsh, Rosella Brown and Catherine Gammage. The four girls gained their second win in Womens Junior 18 Coxed Fours while coxed by a member from Cambois Rowing Club. Claire and Bethany brought their number of wins up to three after they won their Womens Junior 16 Double Sculls event. Matt won his second pot after winning Junior 16 Single Sculls event.
Congratulations to everyone that competed at Nithsdale regatta on Saturday 27 June. The club gained nine wins, one of which was the Mens Eight of Martin Nugent, Thomas Graham, Phil Wilkinson, Josh Cameron, Dave Harte, Danny Mark, Matt Gawne, Connor Mark and cox Claire Nugent. Connor and Matt went on to get two further wins in Restricted 2 and Junior 16 Double Sculls. Martin, Thomas, Phil, Danny and cox Claire gained a second win after winning their Restricted 2 Coxed Fours event. Dave also got another win after winning Elite Single Sculls. Claire teamed up with Bethany Tidmarsh to win her third pot in Womens Junior 16 Double Sculls. Alex Rose and Jack Glenholmes won their Junior 15 Double Sculls event and then went to win a second when teaming with Harry Bareham, Martin Wilson and cox Beth Bareham in Junior 15 Coxed Quads. Jodie Mark and Kate Brown rounded of the wins of the day after winning their Womens Restricted 2 Double Sculls event.
Saturday 4 July saw the rowing club host their own regatta – their 150th one. The club members made a day of it, winning 11 events. Well done to Matt Gawne and Connor Mark, who won all three of their events – Intermediate 2 and Junior 16 Double Sculls, and Junior 16 Coxless Pairs. Martin Nugent, Thomas Graham, Phil Wilkinson, Danny Mark and cox Claire Nugent won their Intermediate 3 Coxed Four event. Jack Glenholmes and Alex Rose won Junior 15 Double Sculls and then Alex up with Alex Widdowson, Rosella Brown, Catherine Gammage and cox Beth Bareham to win Mixed Intermediate 3 Coxed Quads. Conor Johnston and Jack Bell won their Junior 14 B Double Sculls event. To go along with their 150th anniversary celebrations the club put out their first event Womens racing eight. Claire Nugent, Catherine Gammage, Rosella Brown, Donna Watson, Alex Hill, Bethany Tidmarsh, Kate Brown, Jodie Mark and cox Beth Bareham were lucky enough to be in this winning crew. Claire and Bethany went on to gain another pot, winning their Womens Junior 16 Double Sculls event. The final win was recorded by Kim Warwick, Linda Wilson, Dennis Burke, Charles Lawson and cox Beth Bareham in Mixed Veteran Coxed Quads.
